Do you bill by the hour for your accountancy services?

We usually use fixed fees to determine the price of all services before proceeding. We focus on being open and transparent with all prices and like to agree these upfront before any work is started. However, if a client prefers to operate under a T&M arrangement in which they pay by our hourly rates, we are more than flexible to help facilitate this.

Are you up to date with recent accountancy regulations and accountancy industry changes?

Yes, this is a key focus area to everything we do. We continuously maintain our high standards of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) which is a critical requirement under our service license to provide accountancy services. Our team work extremely hard to stay on top of their game by undertaking further training to ensure we provide clients the expertise and knowledge they require.

How long do I need to keep my business accounting records for?

Per HMRC guidelines you need to keep your accounting records for 6 years to comply. Based on the service agreement between clients we set initial expectations in terms of document retention and ensure this is a key focus to remain compliant.

What accounting software is best for my business?

As a business we are strong advocates of cloud-based accounting software, however this is not always required for clients and this is analysed by our team on a case-by-case basis. We have partner agreements in place with Xero, QuickBooks and SAGE so we can flexible to support specific client requirements. We are however strong advocates of Xero, and this is where a vast amount of our client portfolio sits.

Which organisation are you licensed by?

We are licensed and regulated by the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) under the license number 1003651. We are fully approved and regulated to offer and deliver the full suite of accounting services. How easy is it to change accountants?

Switching accountants is relatively easy and straight-forward. It is usually a case of writing to your current accountant and making them aware that you will be switching. We will then liaise directly with that firm to collect your records and ensure a smooth transition. We keep all our clients informed throughout the onboarding process to ensure they are well briefed on the latest developments.

How can I pay for your services?

We offer a full suite of payment options. From direct debits, online payments, bank transfers and even cheque payments. Whatever your requirements we can help to facilitate. We try as a business to take all payments digitally; however we can also cater for cash payments if required.

Is there a penalty for late self-assessment tax return submissions?

Any late submissions will be fined a minimum of £100 by HMRC (based as of 2021). However, based on a client's specific situation there is the potential option to appeal any penalty which will be subject to a HMRC review of the case.

What is the self-assessment tax return deadline?

October 31st for paper tax returns and January 31st for online tax returns. As a business we always like to file early for our clients which ensures they have sufficient time to settle any tax liabilities due.
